Artist Statement

My work is inspired by surfaces, pattern repeats, ideas of concealment, memory and hidden connections. After exploring a neutral palette in recent years, I am moving more and more into colour, looking at colour relationships and meaning. Words are important to me too and can often trigger a whole series of ideas and areas to explore.
Stitch technique is secondary to a desire to create a complex surface image which may be dyed, painted or printed, on paper or fabric, hand or machine stitched.
