Artist Statement

I live and work in County Durham. I Graduated from BA Honours Textile Crafts, Huddersfield University in 2005. I went on to study MA Glass at Sunderland University, graduating with Distinction in 2006.

I am currently setting up a studio in my home town of Spennymoor. I hope to develop my art work and create pieces not only for exhibitions but also to sell in gallery spaces.

My work is inspired by fashion, both its psychological, social and physical impact on the person and the body. I am intrigued by catwalk trends and how the influence for the clothing often reflects what is happening in society. My work has a mysterious and dark side, subtly flirting with the idea of death and decay. This is reflected in fashions of the 20th and 21st century.
